Post RIP, Dick Giordano
I was very, very sorry to see this today, over on Bob Layton's Facebook:

Quote:
Dear Friends & Colleagues, It is my sorrowful duty to announce that legendary artist/editor/entrepreneur Dick Giordano passed away today, due to complications from pneumonia. Few could ever hope to match what he accomplished in his chosen profession, or to excel while maintaining great humor, compassion for his peers and an unwavering love for the art form.

Dick Giordano was such a fantastic guy: Great artist, great mentor to artists and writers, great editor, great everything. He just set the standard. He was in his last year or two as Executive Editor up at DC when I was just starting, and was always so kind to me. He and his aide de camp Pat Bastienne made DC such a warm place be when they were there, and it was never quite the same after they left.

After his retirement from DC, he always remembered to stop by and say hello when we were at the same con, and I never lost my awe of him. His work remained solid to the end-- see his recent Jonah Hex issue for proof.

There's just a giant hole in this business right now. Vaya con dios, Uncle Dick.

From 2008 at Heroes Con, the sign says

RIP, Mr Giordano, I will think of you being on an extended fishing trip, having a great time.

My condolences go out to his family, friends and fans. The world is a little less exciting.
