I was very, very sorry to see this today, over on
Bob Layton's Facebook:

Dick Giordano was such a fantastic guy: Great artist, great mentor to artists and writers, great editor, great everything. He just set the standard. He was in his last year or two as Executive Editor up at DC when I was just starting, and was always so kind to me. He and his
aide de camp Pat Bastienne made DC such a warm place be when they were there, and it was never quite the same after they left.

After his retirement from DC, he always remembered to stop by and say hello when we were at the same con, and I never lost my awe of him. His work remained solid to the end-- see his recent
Jonah Hex issue for proof.
There's just a giant hole in this business right now.
Vaya con dios, Uncle Dick.
