I'm not gonna say I'm surprised, but all good things and all.... See you guys at cons and please try to stay in contact. Love me some Gaijin Studios.

 Re: Big Changes Are Happening.
Gaijin Studios has had at least half a dozen incarnations that I can think of. You guys have had a great run so far, so there's nothing to be sad about. Change is good, and the artists of Gaijin have never been about stagnation. If anything, this next chapter should be exciting one.
One practical question. Will you guys still keep a Gaijin booth at the cons?

As a relative newb to the forums and Gaijin, i'm sad to see it go. But like others have said, it's a time of change, not good-byes. You guys were gracious enough to have us at your studio last year and it was awesome. I still talk about Karl catching bugs outside of the studio to this day.

 Re: Big Changes Are Happening.
You know, I don't know-- me, I'm of a couple of minds about it. On one hand, I think we'd all like to continue sitting together at a booth. On the other, I'm not personally a fan of people billing themselves as "studios" when they don't actually work together in a studio. We've always had an office where we all work almost every day together. To me, a studio is nothing less than that, and it would feel disingenuous if we continued to bill ourselves as "Gaijin Studios" when we're not actually being Gaijin Studios. In any case, we've not talked about it much yet.

 Re: Big Changes Are Happening.
Well, I guess this change was inevitable. These forums are a ghost of their former selves.
Sucks for those like me who don't have a Facebook account. I just can't stand that site. But you guys are taking care of business as best you can and I understand the need for the change. Priorities are only important if they're prioritized, eh?
Good luck, Gaijin, and I hope in the future you have the opportunity to spring forth anew.

 Re: Big Changes Are Happening.
Just poking my head in to say that... well, next week will be the last week before we go read-only. As I've said, if we decide to reactivate Gaijin down the line, we'll reactivate the board, too.
But whatever happens, this'll be your last chance to post for a while. If you have anything left to say, say it this week!

How about we post where we can be found on the net? I'd sure hate to lose contact with some folks here. I'm easy to find, and in case I haven't already friended someone: http://www.facebook.com/adam.richardsG.

 Re: Big Changes Are Happening.
Well, today is it: The last day of Gaijin Studios, at least for the immediate, foreseeable future. This place, this group, has been a defining part of our lives for the last 19 years. It's a cliche most of the time, but the phrase "end of an era" really does apply here for us. But, hey, even though we're closing the doors, I think we'll always be able to say "Ich bein ein Gaijinner." And, personally, I have to say that this board has given me a bunch of friends that I'm glad to have. You guys have made me laugh, pissed me off, and generally just made thing interesting. Thanks. Anyway, his is the last day before we go read-only. If you're got anything left to post, please do.

 Re: Big Changes Are Happening.
This place has been a tremendous blessing from the 1st day I googled "Gaijin Studios" to see if you guys even had a website back in 2001 or 02. At the time I lived in a place where I was very remote from others of my ilk, so this forum (and a few others) made it easy to communicate with other creative artists/designers/storytellers of many professional levels. Over the years I've witnessed the rise of some VERY talented new comers (you know who you are), virtually re-connected and grown closer to many pros who I've met only a handful of times in real life, and became introduced to a few who I'll never forget (you definitely know who you are)!! On this forum I've watched this place grow, seen many great talents come and go, and watched one of the WORST internet photoshop fights I've ever seen in my life! I'm gonna miss you guys. Find me on twiiter and facebook, yo! Davejohnsonart
